The circus came to town

Unsure of the year, but going by the clothing, I'm guessing its during the 1960s, the ladies are too poptastic for it to be the 50s.

I've never been to a circus and I'm not a fan at all, but it must still have been wonderful to see them parade along the high street. This picture picks out some of the things that have changed in the last 50 or so years:

~The high street was open to cars back then but is now pedestrianised - a good thing
~ All of the major shops were to be found on the high street, now they are buried in the bowels of The Mall - a bad thing
~ Timpsons is still around today - a good thing if you need a key cut, but does anyone bother to get shoes re-soled these days?
~ It's no longer acceptable for a man to wear a tank top - a good thing

Watched episode two of 'Call Saul' last night. Really rather amusing, and a worthy spin off of 'Breaking Bad'.

Not making much any progress with the 3rd Game of Thrones book. Too many distractions.

Medical update - the whining noise in my ear has stopped. It was dermatitis which is not going to make sense unless you read yesterday's blip.

And finally, for anyone remotely connected with China or Chinese culture, sshin-nyen kwhy-ler (Happy New Year, the year of the sheep)

Update - year is confirmed as 1968.
