A glimpse into another life

Waiting for the flight from Dubai to Glasgow to take off - a tantalising glimpse of First Class where you appear to have your own capsule to hang out in, complete with the fake flowers that seem to adorn all parts of Emirates' aeroplanes.

Whatever. We were comfortable enough, and pampered enough, in Business Class, and travelling that way made it feasible to make an eight day trip to Sydney, which allowed us five busy days on the ground. It is probably an n=1 experience in the sense that we'll never do something as crazy as that again. We appear relatively untouched by jetlag now we are home, and indeed were not too badly affected even in Sydney. Given how horrible I find it displacing just 5 hours to the east coast of the US (and we have that to come in less than 2 weeks), I'm amazed at how little my body has been affected by 11 hours of displacement. We just stuck to the notion that the day was upside down, and you should sleep when it was dark, and be awake when it was light. This seems to have worked.

Ah well, that's over and done with. Back home now to the normal routine.
