Photo-a-day retirement

Swim anyone?

Seen at the Aransus National Wildlife Refuge in Texas.

Went there hoping to see North America's rarest and largest bird, the whooping crane. But there are very few of them and the preserve is over 70,000 acres, so they weren't anywhere we went.

However we were lucky enough to see this fellow on the banks of a small pond. Luckily it was a warm day and he'd come out, during winter they semi hibernate and we only saw two in all our travels although they are in most of the refuges we went to.

Because we were there in winter there were no biting insects.
