Bowling

This is a favourite haunt of mine where the Forth and Clyde Canal starts in the West. Not many others around today although a cycling group was descending on the Magic Cycles shop at the harbour which dispenses hot drinks. There's a sum of money been allocated this year for development of better tourist and boating facilities. For  real insight into Bowling's history and what is needed for further regeneration read Jimmy MacFarlane's blog.

On the left is a de-masting crane for boats traversing the waterway. And the wooden bird sculptures are attractive among the new picnic tables, but the old Custom House would make a lovely cafe cum interpretation centre instead of being simply the harbour office. The lower right photo shows the view from the shoreline with its winter flotsam and jetsam, looking towards the Erskine Bridge and the gathering rain clouds over Glasgow.
