The Proposal

On the 1st June 2004 Neil unexpectedly proposed to me at this spot in Prague. Nearly 11 years on our very own mini-me's re-enact the scene!

Today was brilliant. One of our best 'travel' days so far with the kids. They are starting to show an interest in different places and seem to appreciate different cultures. It helped that it was a beautiful sunny day even though it was cold. We set out early to grab some breakfast heading out over the Charles Bridge before there were many tourists out and about. After breakfast we visited  the John Lennon wall before strolling along through the park by the river as the kids played tag and hide and seek and asked questions about the bizarre giant sculptures of babies crawling. We had no answers!
We headed to Petrin Hill where we stumbled across a fab large playground where we let the kids have a good play before embarking on the steep climb to the top of the hill. It was really hard going for the kids (and us) so we had lots of stops but it was lovely hearing them say "Wow, look at the views from here, it's so pretty!"
Once at the top we visited the Mirror Labyrinth which was a lot of fun for all as it was pretty tricky navigating through the maze of mirrors. At the end of the maze was a room full of warped mirrors making us look short, fat, very tall etc. The kids found this room hilarious! Nearby we had a look at the Observation Tower which is modelled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris but we didn't fancy climbing all the steps to the top.
A break for lunch to sample some Czech food, another playground and then it was off to find the proposal spot! It was lovely re-visiting with the kids even though they are at the age where they think seeing grown ups kiss is yucky!
We headed to Old Town Square after this where the kids enjoyed watching the buskers and were allowed to join in with making giant bubbles (I've also been told the trick and the ingredients that we need to do this at home!). We watched the Astronomical clock strike on the hour which was quite amusing and gory with the skeleton nodding his head for Death! Olivia also made us giggle as she was looking in a souvenir shop and exclaimed that it 'was so expensive here!' I'd forgotten to tell her that they don't use euros here but the koruna. One euro equates to approx 27 koruna. We were pleased to see that she had some understanding of the cost of things though!
Then we went on a one hour boat cruise along the Vltava which was very relaxing after all the walking we'd done.

We all slept well this evening!
