Photographing the Wind

Dear Diary,

Needless to say, the snow this last month has been incredible but so has the wind.  It reached hurricane force a couple of times.  And the wind does amazing things with the snow creating "white out" conditions at times and blowing it into huge drifts as well.

Sometimes it creates these patterns on the frozen snow surface.  The result looks almost like the patterns created by the waves in the sand by the shore.  I think they are quite lovely and delicate...winter etchings.  Since there is no object in this photograph that would lend a sense of scale, one could almost imagine that this is an aerial view of a mountain range and a glacier...a vast landscape in miniature at my feet.

There can be a subtle beauty about snow when seen in the right light.  When life gives you lemons snow, you make snowscapes!
