MonoMonday Challenge #49 ...... Ancient Building .

......... The Hawes Inn, South Queensferry, Scotland.

This inn dates from the 17th century and lies east of Queensferry, almost under the Forth Bridge on its south side.
It features in Robert Louis Stevenson's novel, Kidnapped.
Opposite the Hawes Inn is the pier which served the ferry (from which the town derives its name) until the opening of the Forth Road Bridge.

I've given it a bit of an "old crumpled paper" look to take away a bit of the modernness of the cars, pub sign and street sign on the wall.
(Thanks to my colleague for being patient while I grabbed a few shots before we headed home southwards from our "mission" today)

Thanks so much to JoanneinOz for hosting again today and providing a great subject for us to find.

Thanks, too, for your comments and stars on my hotel clock yesterday!

Smile of the Day

A man walks into a bar with a large lump of tarmac under his arm,
The barman says:  " What would you like, sir?
The man replies " A double scotch and one for the road "

:-))
