Arctic evening

Sunny day today and a balmy high of -8ºC. But it is staying 'warm' tonight as it is clouding over. Snow tomorrow.

This shot is an experimental HDR using the cameras built-in triple shot feature. It seems to have worked well against the standard shot in preserving the snow detail and not blowing out too seriously on the sky. I'll have to try some more. Looks much better in LARGE.

Heard a Goshawk keening in the woods (I think). Not a sign of it anywhere though ... of course. But stranger still, we saw a Whooper Swan flying overhead. That's rather early - we wondered if it stayed here all winter? Not much to eat - too much snow, but there is a little bit of open water in some of the rivers. Enough for the Dippers.
