Winter playground from Haavepalo

This is a view over our backyard for the fortnight. The Ylläs/Pallas national park in Finnish lapland is a protected area of Taiga forest and Arctic marshland criss-crossed with kilometres of cross-country ski trails.

We are standing on the top of Haavepalo looking across the marshes at the Ylläs hills. From the left: Ylläs, Kellostapuli, Kesänki, Lainio, Pyhätunturi. Our cabin is situated near the lake just beyond Kellostapuli and Kesänki. In the summer the marshes are totally saturated and a haven for wildlife.
