Protea

Back on 9th February I predicted that the bouquet of protea and South African foliage would be very long-lasting. This has certainly been the case. Protea is the botanical and also the common name of the plants sometimes called sugar bushes (Afrikaans: suikerbos). I wondered if they were artificial when I first looked at them, but no - they are just quite leathery robust blooms. Proteus was the Greek god who could change his form at will, and with so many varieties  the botanist Linnaeus thought this would be a great name for the species. I have added a touch of the accentuated edges filter.
