Strictly Twitter star

For all those fans of Orkney library's Twitter star Stuart... that's him in the white hat and braces strutting his stuff as a contestant in orkney's Strictly Come Dancing competition.

Stuart did brilliantly, with his first dance being a jive to a song from Hairspray and the second a superb charleston to 'hats off'. He was great, with some very complicated footwork in both dances and a couple of swirling lifts that I'm really not sure how they did it.

Sadly, he didn't win, that honour went to the head teacher of Stromness primary school who, in my view, didn't have quite as good footwork but did have excellent upper body and arms. His dancing was superbly entertaining and expressive and he delighted the audience with everything about his dances, especially the paso doble in full matador outfit. A worthy winner.

All of the contestants were brilliant with some serious hip swivelling, toe tapping, smooth gliding, elegant dancing. It was very hard to choose a winner - we all got to vote. I think the best act on the night won but the real winners are the charities that benefited from this fund raising evening, last I heard the estimate was over £14,000. Amazing!! Well done to all involved.
