Neither right nor wrong

Different blip today.

Back home and at day 4 of the training for new panel members. A full day of sometimes intense discussions on child abuse and the role of children's panel members when urgent cases arise.

We were given a number of scenarios - some graphic and shocking - and were invited to place them in order of urgency. We were in two groups and while there was some agreement at the lower end of the scale, there was a divergence at the upper end.

In practice, decisions will be determined by the individual circumstances of the child. But just demonstrates the complexities of dealing with these issues.
