Joy Ride

London has Nelson on his column, Leeds has the Black Prince, Edinburgh has Sir Walter Scott and his monument ..... and Stevenage has Joy Ride, which has stood in the town centre since the 1950's. And that was my blip

Major achievement today - Mum exchanged her dressing gown for clothes, and we took a trip out to collect three fish and chips. Her first trip out since returning from hospital.

Whilst waiting, the chippie took an order by phone - the away team playing Stevenage Borough FC tomorrow (Newport) want fish and chips for the coach trip home. He told me - don't tell anyone, but he was glad when Stevenage were relegated. When teams get higher up they start wanting fancy stuff like pasta !

Returned late afternoon, and had my first ever blow out of a tyre, on the M6 near Coventry. Alarming to say the least, and cold and noisy standing by the side of the motorway, but the AA man did his job well. The replacement tyre would last 125 miles and I could not travel at more than 50 mph. I was that really annoying driver going really slowly in the inside lane and refusing to speed up. But at least I've got home safely after a 5 and a half hour journey (although the title Joy Ride now seems ironic).

Thank goodness for that yorkie bar !
