how did the chicken cross the river?

This is the ford just along from Coughton Court, and it is the River Arrow.. Because of repairs to a bridge, the road that I wanted to take was closed, and a detour was in operation. I thought I would take a detour from the detour and go through the ford, thus cutting off probably a couple of miles from the first detour.
The bridge that you can see is a foot (and bicycle) bridge.
When I arrived at the ford, it I chickened out as it looked quite deep. I waited for ages for another vehicle to come along as my "guinea pig", but none did, so I turned my car around and went back - to the first detour.
