Spring Planting

Last week I noticed that the picnic table area on the Esplanade had been scraped down to the dusty grey gravel. Today the reason became clear: it's spring and time to plant the astroturf! Big rolls of the stuff littered the ground, and there were many men and machines milling about. I can't figure out exactly what this tool does, but it looks pretty specialized. Soon there will be lovely childproof plastic grass to soothe the eye on a bright summer day.
