British Meet Up Take Two

We're a queer breed we British Expats. We can't go back to the old country as we don't fit in any more, and can't unobtrusively blend into the new one as we apparently have a neon "Ask me if I'm Australian" sign flashing above our heads. We have great american friends, but are always a little reserved, on our guard, on our best behaviour, minding our p's and q's until........ we get together with other Brits....

OMG!!!!!

We get to say things in our "secret language" like "Get Down Shep" and erupt into fits of giggles, we can make an advent crown, know there's no one quite like grandma and that grandad is lovely, remember the Phantom Flan Flinger and know by rote what comes after "Pugh, Pugh". Basically we finish each others sentences and guffaw.

Tonight we had our second Expat meet up and as there were only four of us there it was a bit like a blind date for couples! We had never met each other before yet had a really nice evening together, laughed a lot, made the same observations, and really got along well. The evening whizzed by.

We only remembered to ask the waiter to take a photo at the last minute. (I think this is going to be "guest photographer week" on my blip!).

Here we are, me, Tom, Sam and Simon at Morgan's.

Here's to the next time!
