Crazy About Birds

By Kimb

Welcome! Do come in.

I've come close to using this house for a DerelictThursday blip - but since I actually walk past it on Monday's when we go for our regular walk, and it seemed to fit with todays MonoMonday Challenge from Chantler63 - which is Entrances and Exits - here it is today!

First of all - this house is in fact occupied. We do know, albeit not well, the people who live there. Their eldest child - now in her mid-thirties - was in school with our younger son. So far as I know, they're still there. Cars come and go. The little flags they hang on their mailbox change to reflect the seasons - currently there's still a snowman. A tree in front generally gets Easter Eggs hung on it (soon time for that!). Witches and/or ghosts appear at Halloween. Appropriate decor occurs for Christmas. The bird feeders sometimes have had bird seed in them. And so on. I presume life is going on as usual inside... although it's been a while since an actual human being has been spotted. Hmm.

The door behind the broken gutter is - technically - the *front door* but clearly no one ever uses it. It is meant to be for entrances and exits, but the door that actually fulfills that function for the house is a door at the end that opens right onto the driveway. I presume it's the kitchen door, but that's just a guess. The gutter has been broken like that for several years. The screen that fell off a window (down there on the left end of the photo just above the car) has been lying there for years. It's pretty clear that not only does no one ever open the front door, no one even sees it anymore!

I might add that we ourselves actually have two front doors on our house that sit right next to each other. The first one goes directly into the living room, the second goes into what I suppose is the dining room - or maybe more of a great room, since it then flows right into the kitchen. Anyway - strangers knock on the first one; friends come straight in the second. It's the second that has storm door with a big glass window that I can photograph the bird action thru.

A lot of blather about nothing much - to explain that this is a MonoMonday Entrance and Exit Challenge blip. Thanks to Chantler63 for hosting!
