Harvesting the Maize

The contractor arrived at 1pm to start harvesting the maize.  At lunch time I popped down to the paddock (in my good work gear) to take some photo's.  I'm pleased I did, as they were finished by the time a got home after work this afternoon.

It is amazing how fast they move through the crop, chopping it up, and transferring it into the pit.  As you can see from the cloud in the photo, the weather looked threatening.  We were hoping that it wouldn't rain.....and so far it hasn't.  Hopefully we will get the pit covered, just in case rain does eventuate.
