New Camera....

.....And it has a wickedly good macro setting.

Only joking this is way beyond any camera I've ever had the chance to play with.

These images are from a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and the power is unbelievable. In fact it is capable of producing images 500,000 x magnification and we have two in our Lab where I work.

The awful subject Tony in the lab put in the microscope was a head lice, it is only 2mm in full length which you can see in the top left image. Before going in the SEM it has to be coated in Palladium so the images can be this clear.

The teeth like structures in the crop thumbnail are only 1 micron thick (1000th of a mm).

My mind has been blown away today looking at these images.

Please go as large as you can (if you dare).

Thanks Tony for showing me around in your Laboratory and equipment :)
