Sgwarnog: In the Field

Rhododendron Grove

We broke our journey across to Eskdale with a stop at Fell Foot Country Park at the foot of Windermere. Apart from watching the boats and having a picnic we had fun exploring and climbing through the rhododendron mazes.  7yo was very happy clambering up, over and through, and it reminded me that this was a big part of my own childhood experiences of the Lake District.

Later, we arrived at our cabin to find it already occupied by another family. Of swallows. It looks like the swooping and perching birds will be ever present companions over the next seven days.
