Emergency launch

The RNLI lifeboat here in Kinghorn was called out on an emergency search and rescue over in the Musselburgh area of the Forth tonight around 6pm just as I happened to be aimlessly wandering along the beach looking for something to photograph. It didn't take them long to change out of their civilian clothes and into their rescue gear before launching the lifeboat and heading off across the water.

I hoped it was an excercise but unfortunately it wasn't. At around 17:45 a fishing vessel had reported a kayak floating about three miles offshore at Port Seton with no-one on board. Sadly, a search and rescue helicopter recovered a man's body from the water off Musselburgh, close to where the River Esk flows into the Firth of Forth.

Not the happiest of blips today.
