Sgwarnog: In the Field

Livery

There was a time when bus liveries provided an important part of the character of a towns and cities, as most buses were run by municipal bus operators. This all changed with deregulation, and we're left with a relatively small number of private operators, of which the First Group is the largest - responsible for a fifth of Britain's local bus services in the UK.

Generally, a First Bus looks like a First Bus wherever you are, a fact that contributes to the creeping homogeneity of urban Britain. But for some reason First Calderdale and Huddersfield has a more progressive attitude, and so we find a bus painted in the old Halifax municipal livery.

The fact that this particular Halifax bus is seen here on an incursion into Bradford adds to the fun.
