A Beaming Belisha

I noticed this morning that someone has adorned this Belisha Beacon with a smiley face.
It made me smile (doesn't take much....) especially as none of the shoppers passing beneath it seemed like they were going to smile any time soon.
With a bit of red paint it could have become a Red Nose Day feature.

You may not know that the first Belisha Beacon was installed in Wigan in 1935. They are named after Leslie Hore-Belisha who was the Transport Minister at that time.
