Couldn't find any Elves.a

Best morning of 2015 so far. Blue sky, no wind, temp. up to 13C.
Whilst Mrs.K.goes doing conservation / woodbank work in the Butterfly Conservation Reserve, I am free to enjoy a five mile circuitous walk from home to RSPB Leighton Moss where I meet up with Mrs.K. For lunch.

Found many things on the way but this is Scarlet Elfcup.
(Sarcoscypha austriaca). It is a fungus growing in late Winter early Spring on rotting and half buried wood. It can be found near the paths on the bird reserve.

You have to go out at night with a torch to have any chance of seeing the Elves and sadly I am not allowed out on my own after 10p.m.
