Red Right Returning

Opposite (complimentary) colors on the color wheel offer the most contrast to each other.   Artists often use little bits of red next to green to make the green zing a little more.    I could have taken a picture of a painting…. but that’s what it would be… a picture of a painting.

So this is taken on my row this morning toward Lake Washington.   In this part of the world anyway, red is always on the right  (starboard) to mark the channel when one is coming from open water—salt to fresh usually. The shape is a pointed “nun” and the numbers are even.    The opposite (left) side will be a flat topped cone shaped green with uneven numbers.   A contrast for boaters to remember.   ( the little black spots beyond the green buoy are coots.)

Many thanks to everyone for the nice comments stars and hearts for the my blipfotoforever photo and just plain support for this community.   As always, you are really appreciated but I’d rather use my time to comment on your photos than respond on mine.   And if you haven’t seen it —here’s Karen Monkeymoo's You tube video of 915 blippers who took part!   Hurray for blipfoto!! Long may it live!

If you were around in 2010 there was a great blip run vimeo "life.turns" that showed 1205 blippers from around the world --very fun!

(possible entry for the blip challenge "complimentary colors")
