A Day on "The Strip"

Breakfast with the slots,
a day spent on the strip so
my feet are aching!

We are staying in one of the RV parks attached to a casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. At 10 AM we were in the casino restaurant having a leisurely breakfast surrounded by slot machines. It is amazing to me how many people are up drinking and gambling before 10 AM!

We took the casino shuttle bus to “The Strip”, which is just a short ride from our park. My first surprise of the day is in the photo showing traffic on Flamingo Street. On the upper right one can see something like the London Eye. This one is called the High Roller. It claims to be the world's tallest observation ride (550 feet to London Eye's 443 feet). I could not talk D into going for a ride. He has a fear of heights and has already sacrificed greatly for me on the trip down as we visited the Grand Canyon.

I always marvel at the borrowed attractions that Las Vegas features. One can see the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the Venice canals.....We hopped on the city bus and rode the length of the strip and back. On the return we got off at the Coca Cola store and the M & M store. Both have quite a stunning inventory of merchandise featuring their brand. At the Coca Cola store we sampled drinks from around the world, all within the Coca Cola domain.

I couldn't resist a photo of the two showgirls in pink feathers. It cost me a five dollar bill but it was worth it! They are very pretty girls and reminded me of fluffy canaries.

In our walk through Harrah's we found this set of statues that look like a lucky couple who just hit the big time. They were life-sized and getting lots of attention.

We took the shuttle back to our park at Sam's Town and enjoyed the dinner buffet there about 6 PM. My feet are killing me and it's off to the shower. I hope I can walk tomorrow. There's a museum or two I'd like to see.
