The kids are grown. One is in university, one has recently graduated from university and is beginning a work life.
My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease just 6 months before my retirement date. Modern medications gave us two years of quality life together. The last year and a half he spent in care. He passed from this world on Easter weekend. It is an ugly way to die.
I was determined from the onset of his diagnosis that I would begin making a life for myself. I had to be able to see something past his end for myself. So, I began to use a little camera each day. It recorded the remarkable and the mundane, but it kept my mind busy and focussed. It gave us a good reason to get out and going each day.
Now that his journey here is over, I continue mine. It is with love and gratitude that I thank those that take the journey with me.
What do I want to do with my amazing life?
