Lichen

This yellow lichen grows on only one shrub in our garden, but it seems to be ideal conditions for it there.
The lichen comes back every year, and doesn't appear to be damaging the plant which has lovely white flowers towards the end of the summer.
I was outside for the eclipse today. Honest!  It was very good in our area, but neither of us took any photos. I didn't notice it getting much darker, but I did notice when it was over that it became much sunnier.
During the 1999 eclipse, we were on a dive boat just south of Skye, opposite Glen Brittle. That was really outstanding, and as it became darker, we could see dolphins on the surface, and also many many birds. Then the piéce de resistance - minke whales breaching. I would never have believed it, as all of this happened in the space of about a minute. Luckily we had a TV cameraman with us (not in his professional capacity, he was a member of our diving club) and he took some great photos - not of the eclipse, but of the fabulous wildlife that all decided to come out to play.
