Gently down the stream

St Swithun's Street

This is St Swithun's Street in Winchester.  St Swithun is almost the patron saint of the place.  The high wall on the right encloses the Cathedral grounds and the street comes down and through the arch into the Close.  The huge gates are still locked every night.

These two dear ladies, walking slowly up the roadway, deep in conversation, were just what most caught my eye today.  The eclipse certainly didn't.  It was a complete bust in this neck of the woods - heavy cloud which just got a slightly darker shade of grey, as though it might rain.  But the birds knew and the animals.  They all went silent and still for a moment or two.  Still, it was so wonderful seeing all the blips of it - really made me feel like I was there (so to speak).

Right, time to cook supper.  Have a good evening folks and I'll be back a little later..  xx
