Bowood 2015 #10 (Tuesday 17th March 2015)

It was a rather glorious afternoon, too good to be indoors, and I was inevitably drawn to Bowood Lake. The House and Grounds will open on the 27th but in the meantime the footpath that begins at Pillars Lodge is freely available and leads along Coombe Grove to the Palladian bridge.

There was a wonderful golden late-afternoon light as I walked on from the bridge towards Derry Hill. Bowood House can not be reached from the footpath but was clearly visible from the final point that I reached. Black and white lovers might like this version here.

I was pleased with the album that manifested from shots taken on the walk, including a few taken with the iPad which were shared online from the grounds. Canada geese were much in evidence and I managed a couple of long-range shots that included a heron. On the way back I saw a roe deer cross the path and a couple of hares in one of the fields, and thanks to the lengthening days the sun was still sinking in the sky when I got back to the car at 1800 hr.
