White rhino - caged

White rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum), South Africa. This is a wild rhino temporarily in captivity following capture, awaiting transport to a new area.

White rhino in the wild are being killed by poachers at an unsustainable rate to satisfy demand from the illegal Asian market for rhino horn. Urgent and effective conservation action is required. If not, this may be the only way we see rhino - behind bars.
