Lulworth Sunset

I had a wonderful day in and around Lulworth Cove in Dorset.

The main objective of the day was a visit to the "Ghost Village" of Tyneham. It was evacuted in 1943 when the Army took over the village and surroudng land for training purposes.  Despite promises made, the land has remained part of the Army Ranges and even now access to the village is only possible at weekends when the guns and tanks are "resting".  Today the buildings are in ruins, and reading the stories amd looking at the old photos in panels around the site makes you feel for the villagers who represented generations of families who made their life in this sleepy quiet place.

My afternoon was spent roaming Lulworth Cove and marvelling at its geology, until the day ended with a glorious sunset - which was worth waiting for despite the 2hr journey back home ahead of me.
