L'Amour

On Sunday, Glasgow City FC played Paris Saint Germain in the first leg of a quarter-final match in the UEFA Women's Champions League. The match was played at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie and, as it's not often that a Champions League match will be played in Airdrie, I went along.

Women's football is quite different from the men's version of the game and this was a really good match to watch. Although PSG were the better side, Glasgow City hung on in there. That the final score was only 0-2 was testament to the hard work of the Scottish side, who created few clear-cut chances to score themselves.

Highlight of the match, though, was the spectacle of the PSG supporters who sang and chanted throughout the match. At one point near the start of the second-half they displayed the above banner "From Paris with Love". That, plus a rousing rendition of the Marseillaise in the first-half, raised a fair bit of applause from the home support in the main stand.
