The boatyard

Cal and I went out for an adventure as is becoming our wont. Sainsbury was the picnic vendor of choice this week and then round to Oare Marshes to enjoy the weather and some casual birdwatching. We dined in the car as it was breezy and we listened to Squeeze - Cal's selection.

Then we meandered along the sea wall to the hide. The view from there is tremendous; along the coast to Herne Bay on one side and Sheppey on the other side. Straight ahead is out over the point where the Swale enters the Thames and then out into the sea. Not many birds around (midweek, they were probably on a day off because they work weekends) but it was smashing watching the tide romp in and lift the buoys off the mud flats. This image is looking down Oare creek and shows a boatyard to the left and, down the creek to the right, moored boats. This bad boy works best in loud.

From Oare we headed over to Seasalter and after a bit of a stroll we drove through Whitstable before heading inland and we came home through Canterbury. Not a bad day and nice to spend some time chilling with my favourite son.
