Derelict Thursday: The Flour Mill

The Golden Flour Mill began in Longmont as a cooperative venture by farmers.  It produced its first sack of flour on January 13, 1919.  It later became a feed mill known as the Golden West Milling Company.  The mill ceased operations on July 21, 1979 and has been vacant ever since.  In 2009 two teenagers started a fire in the largest building which has since been torn down, but these outbuildings and random pieces of machinery still remain.  There are also 4 huge silos still standing that might be a future blip.  I liked this shot because the trees look as derelict as their surroundings.  I've passed this site hundreds of times and never really knew anything about it until today.
Thanks to lynnfot for hosting the challenge this week.
