Fire and Water

This morning U3A Photography Group (the three of us that turned up) went to Llangollen to take some photos. We were just going to mooch around by the canal but we saw a lot of canoes in the River Dee so we climbed down to the bank to have a look.

There were a lot of people using the white water rapids in canoes and dinghies. It turned out that they were on a course from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. We watched them rescuing people from the water and manoeuvring down the channel in the rapids (only one boat got stuck and their colleagues splashed water on them until they released themselves). It looked as though they were having great fun!

We got pretty cold sitting on rocks watching the action so ended the morning by having a welcome coffee in the Chainbridge Hotel and putting the world to rights!
