Sunny Saturday

This doesn't happen often but I am lost for words! I can't really believe how wonderful all you Blipers have been, constantly giving stars (due to the lack of being able to comment and not a rating of the photographic content). I can't thank you all enough and means an awful lot. I have reopened comments but ask for a bit more time before I get fully back up to speed.

I mentioned yesterday that nothing much happening in the garden but I forgotfto add "except for the weeds". Why is it that they seem to be having such a great time?

Angie out for a ride with Rosie who has been going really well for quite some time. Some may remember the dreadful time we have had the last couple of years with her hooves and our concern when the "specialist" farrier Lothar changed occupations last year. Richard our farrier and friend of old has really got to grips with the problems and appears to be doing an excellent job. Also convinced the strict, no grain or sugar and masses of vegetable oil, diet is working.

Rosie tends to get ridden less than she should as she is a 101% insurance policy. Nothing gets her worked up, she's lazy and boring, never offended and forgives within seconds. The exact opposite of Sultan who gets most of the attention because we somehow need to get rid of some of his excess energy before he destroys all fences, trees posts or irritates the others.

Of course it's ten times worse at the moment as we still can't let them on the fields to graze due to the slurry, fertiliser and the lack of growing grass. Today we did put them out on the field outside the property which is still very wet and of course by evening, all three horse were one and the same colour - mud grey.

As usual Angie was joined by Luna and Flash. Flash is struggling but manages a good 30-45 minutes. Today I collected him on the way to the recycling dump at Ottobeuren. Last year he didn't like having to get in the car and leave the others to continue the ride. Now he warmly greets the sight of the approaching car and is standing at the boot before the car comes to a standstill.

Am trying to clear out my "office" of all the accumulated junk. After the grandchildren's last visit, I had the objective of making it in to a Grandpa and Grandchildren den, free of parents (and children). Sadly I can see I won't manage it again. But at least a start. One success at the dump, the council helper giving me help with sorting which type of plastic went in which container, out of the blue asked me if I had children. Quite chuffed as she then offered me something which would only be suitable for under 8 year olds. When I saw what it was, I said yes but they were a little too old for the offered item BUT the grandchildren would enjoy it. Can't yet reveal what it is - of course not perfect as it was being thrown out by someone but still usable. rather nice that the staff try to rescue items that are usable. They also run a sort of library with shelves of all the books being thrown away.

Back home and had a visit from friend Kathi who had been hoping to ride out with Angie but she had to work today. She did quickly help to get the mop on my head looking presentable for the family visit. They may now recognise me.

Today was actually cool except if one could find shelter from the wind. In the sun it was lovely, the bees were busy again flying and we even did my haircut outdoors. Spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get to grips with weeds and (potential) flower beds. As always the chickens helped. Storm winds and rain forecast for Sunday and the weather due to get worse with the possibility of snow at Easter!
