Just past their prime

Ordinarily these peonies would still be buds on Memorial Day, but this year they are in full bloom and then some. Our peony bush was looking great several days ago; the blossoms were full and lush; Then we had a little rain and wind, and they were gone. These are from our neighbor's bushes. He has about 10 peonies along the side of his house. Today I didn't feel up to going for my usual blip walk, so I wandered across the street after supper to ask if I could take a picture of the peonies I was enjoying while I sat on our living room sofa reading a book. It has been a quiet day, and I am hoping my sore throat will be gone by tomorrow.
