Les Amoureux de Bayeux

"The lovers of Bayeux"--a small, Romanesque sculpture in the nave of Bayeux Cathedral. We took a train this morning to this small town in Normandy, not far from the beaches of 1944--which we will visit tomorrow morning, followed by the Bayeux tapestry in the afternoon.  The cathedral is superb--outside is mainly gothic, but it dates from the eleventh century.

It's late--we just returned from dinner in nearby Caen with our friend Thierry's boss and his wife, whom we had briefly met when they stayed in our apartment in New York three years ago. The headquarters of their company are in Caen; we had a wonderful meal of fish and great conversation.  More tomorrow, at least with that blip.
