Viveca Koh

A couple of years ago we had a talk from Viveca Koh at our Photographic Society.  She showed us some wonderful images of the interiors of abandoned buildings ("urban exploration" is the term usually applied to this style).  It was an extremely entertaining evening, so she was invited back to talk to us again this evening.

Since her last visit, Viveca has gained the Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society - their highest distinction - and she showed us her very creative panel which gained her the award.  (She is seen here holding one of the images.)  The panel was from images she had created to illustrate her Uncle's book of poetry, and each image was inspired by, and illustrated, one of his poems.

She also showed us a series of images taken on an iPhone and edited using some of the many photo apps available.  The evening demonstrated how, with some skill and a heck of a lot of imagination and creativity, it is possible to create amazing images using the simplest of tools.  An inspirational evening, I thought.
