Life in Newburgh on Ythan

The world of dreams

Great excitement! The strong westerly winds of yesterday have uncovered from the sand two gigantic monoliths belonging to the long lost stone circle of Forvie.

Did the followers of Cailleach, the ancient Celtic deity taking the form of an old hag with boar tusks, a single piercing eye and a surprising ability in rock-throwing, once dance here? Did the remnants of the Roman 9th legion rest here before, lost and doomed, they vanished into the swirling mists of Caledonia?

I really must stop eating Strathdon Blue, my favourite cheese, late at night; it causes me to enjoy such truly bizarre dreams!
