Sgwarnog: In the Field

Spratt's

I don't often come across old tin signs in situ. More often they're adorning museums or adding character to tourist honeypots like at Haworth. These seem to be where they've always been though, advertising Spratt's dog biscuits long past their sell by date.

These will have originally overlooked the railway line in Denbigh and the line itself was closed in 1962. I will have walked past this spot hundreds of times in my youth without paying it much regard, but it's fun walking around a familar town with an eye for blippable curiosities rather than just making a beeline for the shop or post office.

More on Spratt's, apparently a pioneer of bold advertising, here.
