Failing to take a picture without bunting

Thanks for commiserating about yesterday - today was a better day.

For me but not for the cast of a play I went to this evening. The Shared Experience company, who I think are brilliant, and whose specialism is communicating emotion, are touring Mary Shelley. A notice as we went in announced that one actor, playing an important part, could not be there because he had suffered a 'devastating bereavement' last night. We discovered it was his wife, and he'd gone home to be with his children.

At 11 this morning the company found an actor to read his part and he reached the theatre to rehearse at 2 this afternoon. In the performance he was amazing - using his script as a prop. Then the interval came and went on and on. We were told that another actor had been taken ill. More interval. Finally an ambulance arrived and the second half  of the play was cancelled. This actor was 'suffering from heat exhaustion' but I'd be surprised if the emotion of the play - in part about the death of a mother - wasn't a factor.
