Backyard Birds - House Finch

Although rain was predicted this Easter, we saw very little of it at our house.  But the birds were out enjoying the seed feeders in our backyard!  And I spent time with a friend catching up along with "watching the eagles"!

I hope you are not tiring of the blow by blow daily photos, but it's been both a learning experience and a way to share with all of the people who stop by daily, but can't watch them continuously.  So this is the way many of them are keeping up with what's happening.  Today our female eagle "test drove" the little cup in the nest where she will lay the egg or eggs...for 20 minutes and then 6 minutes.  That the first "serious" test drive, so we were elated.  The nest looks good...now it's the wait to see if we will get an egg.

One of the last sequences you will see in the flickr photos (link below) is the male eagle carrying a very long branch....he took several loops around the wetlands and finally made it to the nest, only to drop the branch as he was trying to drag it in.  Building a nest is hard work!!!
