Male Stonechat

Yesterday I went for an Easter Sunday walk to one of my favourite places, Whixall Moss NNR, a lowland peatbog.

The weather was beautiful (a walk without a coat!!) There were lots of birds around. As well as this stonechat and his mate there were curlews, a pair of kestrels (we watched one catch a mouse or vole and eat on the wing) and a reed bunting. There were lots of brimstone butterflies on the wing here and here if you'd like to see shots of them.
