Dog's Tooth Violet.

Erythronium dens-canis. Bulbous rooted perennial. Grows in meadows, woods and rocky slopes in alpine mountains. Also does quite well in Knottman's garden and alpine house.

It gets its common name from the oblong whitish bulb which is thought to resemble a dog's tooth.

I love it and look forward to it every year.
