Returning home

A good return trip from Highcliffe takes us 4.5 hours - and today was a good return trip. A fine sunset as we approached Warrington - here we are passing over the Ship Canal on the M6 Thelwell viaduct. Fiddlers Ferry and the spire of St Elphicks Church clearly visible. Took this with my phone camera, surprised it came out quite well.

Three things I have learnt on our trip:
1) My sister is cooking a meal for the 30 members of the Grimethorpe Colliery Band on Saturday (they are playing at the Exchange at SN). Asking for special dietary requirements she is told that they all want meat and hot puddings ("we're from Yorkshire")
2) Christchurch BC has an excellent Pest Control service. I have found myself humming a well known UB40 hit throughout the last few days, it's become a bit of an earworm - never thought it would be quite so apposite to daily life !
3) There is a lot of apartment development taking place. In Salford and Manchester the market is the 25 - 35 age group. In Christchurch it is the over 65's. Both need big cranes, even if the built form is very different !
