On the road

After finding it hard to stay awake all afternoon yesterday, I went to bed at 7pm and was asleep by 8. I had one satisfying night's sleep ready for a good old journey north today.

The roads were clear and, even in the van, we were only 10 minutes behind the ETA with two stops.

We had lunch in Oban before catching the ferry to the Isle of Barra.   We were both pretty excited and Little Dog too... She always enjoys a van adventure!

The ferry crossing isn't short and we headed into quite a foggy but pretty calm crossing. Even before we'd reached Mull, the views, with fingers of mist, were so lovely we were already keen to come back.

Getting a little travel queasy, I spent much time on deck or staring at the horizon. As a result, we saw a beautiful fogbow following the boat as what we think were porpoises playing in the bow waves down the side of the boat; gannets both swimming and flying; razorbills and black guilllemots.  So it was all quite exciting.

After 14 hours travelling, we're now on a little island south of Barra called Vatersay, ensconced in the van after an omelette on toast supper.

Still and silent.
