Gruissan Castle

Tuesday 14th April 2015

My sister took us out for the day, first to Notre-Dame des Auzils which is a little church at the top of a hill. It was quite a climb up but Mum managed it. Unfortunately when we reached the top we found the church was closed, which was disappointing as it has a lot of paintings in it. It is a church dedicated to fishermen and sailors who have lost their lives at sea.

We had a picnic in the woods then went on to Gruissan where my sister and I climbed up to the castle, leaving Mum below. There was a lovely view from the top. On the drive home we went along the Canal du Midi and it was sad to see how many trees have had to be taken down due to disease. It has destroyed this World Heritage site in many places.

We finished the day at the lake in Homps so that the dogs could have a swim.

It seems the air strike has been postponed so we will be returning on Thursday. Apart from something on Saturday I am still on holiday until next Wednesday though!
