All standing to attention

I've been having quotes to have the outside of my house repainted. It hasn't been done for over 10 years, we live on a busy road and we've had cavity wall insulation so it is in desperate need of being done.
I'm having to find a painter from scratch because I don't know anyone who can recommend one and so far I have had a no-show, one who came but has never sent me an estimate, one who hardly spoke any English and 2 decent ones.
I think I will go with one of them so now all I need to do is choose the colour (quite a big responsibility!)
